Demystifying the Peer Workforce: Ethical Considerations for Non Peer Professionals
This 2-day, virtual workshop is designed to provide participants with an understanding of the role of Mental Health Peer Specialists, the value they add to the organizations where they work, and common challenges experienced when implementing peer support services in traditional behavioral health provider settings. Participants will come away with a greater appreciation of how peer support services and clinical services can complement one another and an awareness of how to effectively promote peer support services within their organization.
The primary audience for this interactive workshop is administrators, supervisors, and clinical staff working alongside peer professionals. Peer specialists are encouraged to attend in order to participate in conversations about implementation strategies for their agency, but should expect basic information about peer services that is already familiar to them.
Note: Participants who have completed the Peer Specialist Supervisor (PSS) certification course may elect to attend only Day 2 of this workshop, due to an overlap in content on Day 1.
CEU’s:
If attending both days: 11 total CEU’s (including 3hrs Ethics) provided to a variety of clinical and peer professionals. 11 CEU’s in Peer Support & Leadership provided to certified Peer Specialist Supervisors.
If attending only Day 2: Total of 5.5 CEU’s (including 2 hrs Ethics) provided to a variety of clinical and peer professionals. 5.5 CEU’s in Peer Support & Leadership provided to certified Peer Specialist Supervisors (PSS).
