Community Re-entry

The Peer Support for Community Re-entry endorsement training has been developed by Via Hope Texas Mental Health Resource to train Peer Support Specialists in Texas to assist individuals who are facing mental health challenges and are engaged with the criminal justice system. Peer Support Specialists utilize their own recovery experience to help others to improve their health and wellness, live a self- directed life, and reach their full potential, all within a peer-supported community of recovery.

This two-day virtual training provides a grounding in the knowledge, skills and tools needed by a CPS in order to effectively supporting a peer’s transition from a community of confinement and incarceration to a community of choice. The course is taught by Peer Support Specialist trainers who have experience in mental health recovery and who were previously involved with the criminal justice system.
