Youth and Young Adult Peer Support is a 3‐day interactive training designed for Peer Specialists who already have experience in the field. The purpose of this training is to gain new skills and experiences to better support youth and young adults as peer specialists. (Youth and Young Adult Peer Support) is designed to build upon concepts and techniques already learned in prior peer support training. This training is meant for those who have already been trained in providing peer support, and who may already be, or would like to work with youth and/or young adults.
Participants will explore topics such as resistance with youth and young adults, youth specific programs and peer support history, ethics, connecting across experiences that we may not share with the person we are supporting, and more. YAYAPS (Youth and Young Adult Peer Support) was collaboratively designed and written by Jessi Davis and Darcy Kues. Jessi Davis, an MHPS, RSPS, PRSS-TAY with experience in the field of youth and young adult peer support, is currently the Transitional Age Youth Coordinator at Via Hope. Darcy Kues, J.D. is an independent consultant (Kues Consulting) with expertise in curriculum design and writing for nonprofit organizations. 19.5 CEUs (14.5 and 5 Ethics)
