Job Role and Purpose: Recovery ATX Recovery Community Center in East Austin, Texas is seeking full-time certified Recovery Support Peer Specialists (RSPS). As a valued staff member, the recovery coach will provide a range of short- and long-term coaching services to help people with substance use conditions initiate and sustain their recovery journey in a way that is person-centered and self-defined.

The recovery coach will primarily offer hope, encouragement, and a menu of services to people affected by problematic relationships with substance use. Drawing significantly on personal experience with and knowledge of local behavioral health services and supports, the recovery coach will connect individuals receiving services to a variety of community resources as directed by that individual’s own recovery journey. The coach will also work with individuals who are receiving long-term coaching to develop and implement a recovery plan to manage their health and wellness and build or rebuild a meaningful life for themselves in their community. The recovery coach will be an integrated part of the RCC team, working closely with other coaches, and program staff.

Our ideal candidates will have some prior experience as a recovery coach and will report directly to the Program Director.

Required Qualifications: 

Certified Recovery Specialist (Required)
Must be Austin-area based.
Lived experience with a substance use condition
Knowledge of recovery support services, including a basic understanding of peer support
Knowledge of services in the community
Commitment to supporting multiple pathways to recovery, including MAT, moderation, and harm reduction
Access to reliable transportation to meet the needs of the target population
Ability to work a flexible schedule (potentially being available in the evenings and on weekends)
Completion of CORE and 46 hours of recovery coach training
Texas Certification Board Certification
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Two years of self-defined recovery

Preferred Qualifications: 1 year of experience working as a peer support specialist
