Job role and purpose: Assist clients in facilitating access to needed services, provides support and encouragement while assisting clients in the recovery process. Guide and mentor individuals seeking to achieve or sustain long-term recovery from addiction, regardless of pathway to recovery. Deliver case management related functions such as providing referrals, scheduling appointments, shopping, budgeting, use of public transportation, and regular meeting attendance. Provide transportation as assigned to ensure client access to meetings and community services. Attend court appointments with clients as support and advocate. Provide support services during times of client crisis/relapse. Teach personal care, self-help, and relapse prevention skills to clients.

Required qualifications: Must obtain the Recovery Support Peer Specialist (RSPS) credential by completing state certification process.

Preferred qualifications: High School or GED required, current driver’s license and good driving record required and must be in a personal recovery program from a substance use disorder with at least one (1) year of continuous sobriety.  Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Effectively present information to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization in one-on-one and small group situations.  Ability to apply good judgement when implementing instructions provided in written, verbal, or diagram formats. Must be able to perform assigned duties and responsibilities with neatness, accuracy and in a timely manner.
