Job Title: Mental Health Peer Specialist Program Supervisor

Status: This position is a temporary position grant-funded through 09/30/2025. Continued employment is contingent upon adequate funding and the need for the position as determined by the agency.
Job Role and Purpose: Performs highly advanced administrative and supervisory program work for the Mental Health Peer Specialist grant program. Work involves establishing goals and objectives; developing guidelines, policies, and procedures; developing schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving established goals; monitoring and evaluating program activities; developing and evaluating budget requests; monitoring budget expenditures; and supervising the work of others. Works under minimal supervision with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE). Major course work in Psychology, Social Work, Medicine, Nursing, Rehabilitation, Counseling, Sociology, Human Growth and Development, Physician Assistant, Gerontology, Special Education, Educational Psychology, Early Childhood Education, or Early Childhood Intervention preferred.
Four years full-time, wage-earning criminal justice, program administration, public administration, mental health service, or social service experience.
Two years full-time, wage-earning experience in the supervision of employees.
Experience in a governmental program preferred.
Experience with grant implementation, reporting and budgets preferred.
Peer support experience preferred.
Current valid license as a Qualified Credentialed Counselor (QCC) or Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts (LPHA) as identified by the Texas Certification Board.
Must have or be able to obtain credentialing as a Peer Specialist Supervisor (PSS) with the Texas Certification Board within six months of employment. Must maintain valid license(s) for continued employment in position.
