April 15, 2025 @ 9:00 am – April 17, 2025 @ 5:00 pm
A CENTRALIZED TRAINING ACCOUNT IS REQUIRED TO REGISTER FOR THIS TRAINING.
Healing-Centered Peer Support is a three-day training that provides participants with a foundation for understanding what trauma is, how trauma impacts people and communities, what healing looks like, and how peers can use these concepts and their own lived experience to best support people who are navigating trauma and/or exploring healing. Throughout the training, participants will have opportunities to explore and define their own story of trauma and healing through various activities and structured reflection.
At the end of this training, participants should be able to:
- Define trauma, healing, and healing-centered engagement;
- Demonstrate a concrete understanding of trauma that centers survivors, their strengths, and their resiliency;
- Dispel common myths about trauma and healing;
- Describe different pathways for healing and support other people’s explorations of their own healing;
- Understand the unique capacity of peers to support people with trauma histories;
- Integrate practical skills and tools of healing-centered peer support into their practice as peer supporter;
- Advocate effectively for healing-centered practices and policies in their professional settings; and
- Implement techniques for preventing and reducing secondary trauma.
Via Hope training content is provided via Zoom through an online learning platform. Participants will be required to have an active internet connection and be on camera for the majority of the training. Individual computer access is required; participants will not be able to log on in a group environment.
The Mental Health Resource of Texas dba Via Hope does not allow the use of AI (artificial intelligence) software to record Zoom, Microsoft Teams or any other virtual meeting platforms hosted by employees of the organization.
