Youth and Young Adult Engagement
There are two major components to Via Hope’s efforts to engage youth and young adults, age 14 to 24. First, Via Hope works with individuals in promoting mental health advocacy, awareness, and education. There is power in youth voice and in the energy of youth enthusiasm. Via Hope incorporates youth input and guidance every step of the way and consults with youth first on all major programmatic initiatives.
Second, existing mental health systems need to grow and change in order to hear what Texas youth have to say. In addition to creating a program that strengthens youth voice, Via Hope works on initiatives that expand the capacity for systemic youth engagement. This includes participating in mental health coalitions, youth task forces, and mental health councils. Youth have something to say, and we provide opportunities for people to hear from them.
