November 2017

  • This 2 1/2 day endorsement training for Certified Peer Specialists and Certified Peer Recovery Coaches who are working with people re-entering the community from being incarcerated. 

Next Steps-Recovery to Practice: November 15-18, 2017 in Austin, TX. Application closed.

  • RTP Next Steps is a 4-day highly interactive training designed for advanced Certified Peer Specialists and Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialists to gain new skills and experiences, learn with and from each other, and come to a common understanding of recovery through some of the current best practices in peer support.  RTP Next Steps uses a Collaborative Learning approach and involves outside preparation.  In Collaborative Learning, the participants are the “content experts” and the facilitators are guides to set up experiences that allow the participants to share their working knowledge of each area that is being explored. In addition to the in-person training, RTP Next Steps involves a pre- and post-test and a self-paced workbook that participants are required to complete as part of the training. By applying to this training, you are agreeing to participate fully in the Collaborative Learning environment and to complete the pre-test, supplemental workbook, and post-test.

  • This 2 day training is designed for both Via Hope Certified Peer Specialists and Texas Peer Recovery Coaches.  Space for this training is limited to twelve CPSs and twelve Recovery Coaches.

  • This 2 1/2 day endorsement training on Trauma Informed Peer Support is designed for Via Hope Certified Peer Specialists. To be eligible for the training, a Certified Peer Specialist, or Certified Recovery Coach, must have been employed or volunteering as a peer specialist for a minimum of six months.

    Development of this training was a joint effort of Via Hope and the National Council for Behavioral Health.  The Council is a non-profit organization representing more than 2,000 community mental health and addiction organizations that provide a broad continuum of services to meet the healthcare needs of individuals living with mental illnesses and addictions.

  • This 1½ day training is designed for Certified Peer Specialists or Certified Peer Recovery Coaches who intend to use the Whole Health concepts and planning tools introduced in the basic peer specialist training as part of their daily work.
