Faculty and Partners

Via Hope partners with a number of organizations on its initiatives, drawing on national expertise to build in-state capacity to promote recovery and wellness in Texas.

Texas Department of State Health Services Mental Health and Substance Abuse Division provides funding to Via Hope, and is a key partner on a variety of initiatives including the Recovery Institute.

The Hogg Foundation for Mental Health provides funding to Via Hope on a variety of workforce development initiatives including peer specialist training and certification, family partner training and certification, the Recovery Institute, and youth engagement.

The University of Texas at Austin Center for Social Work Research has served as the evaluator on many of Via Hope’s initiatives and is currently a critical partner on the Recovery Institute and COSP Institute.

Appalachian Consulting works in collaboration with Via Hope on the peer specialist training and certification program, and developed the training curriculum used by Via Hope.  Larry Fricks and Ike Powell, both seasoned trainers and figures in the field of peer support, facilitate the Via Hope Basic Peer Specialist, Peer Specialist Supervisor and Whole Health and Resiliency trainings in partnership with Via Hope.

Yale Program for Recovery and Community Health has been engaged by Via Hope to consult and train on Recovery Institute initiatives. Dr. Larry Davidson has provided primary consultation on the 2011 Recovery-Focused Learning community and the Recovery Institute, and Dr. Janis Tondora is providing consulting and training to facilitate person-centered planning implementation.

Mental Health America of Texas is an advocacy and education organization with local affiliates throughout the state.  MHAT oversees the Texas Parents as Teachers program, the Texas Suicide Prevention Council, Via Hope Texas Mental Health Resource, and provides policy advocacy on mental health issues. Via Hope is a partnership between Mental Health America of Texas and NAMI Texas.

NAMI Texas a nonprofit, grassroots, self-help, support and advocacy organization of consumers, families, and friends of people with mental illness. NAMI has local affiliates throughout the state. Via Hope is a partnership between Mental Health America of Texas and NAMI Texas.
